Radio frequency identification (RFID) has certainly arrived, and it is here to stay, yet there are still many questions about how the technology should and will be used to track goods in the global supply chain, and how companies can offset the cost of deploying RFID Systems. The RFID Journal Live! 2004 conference in March 2004 aims to address these and many other RFID-related issues.
The weekly industry newsletter, RFID Journal, is to hold its second annual RFID Journal Live! executive conference (March 29th to 31st, 2004) at the Hilton Chicago, USA, to address the key issues surrounding RFID. A large portion of the event's programme is devoted to how companies across a variety of industries can meet the RFID mandates of large organisations such as Wal-Mart, the US Department of Defense, and European retailers Tesco and Metro Group, as well as how to deploy the technology in a way that achieves internal benefits.
Presented in conjunction with event producer Phocas Partners, the conference will explore the technology, integration, and business issues surrounding RFID in manufacturing, retail, and supply chain environments. It will also focus on RFID pilots and implementation in healthcare, transportation, and the military.
The executive conference will be preceded by two concurrent, one-day, pre-conference seminars: one that focuses on the fundamentals of RFID, and another for investors interested in RFID start-ups. The conference will include a live tour of a fully integrated RFID supply chain as well as exhibitions from 25+ RFID hardware, software, and integration vendors (including Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, Intel, Intermec, Matrics, Red Prairie, Texas Instruments' TI-RFID, and Zebra).
