Alien Technology has been awarded a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) from the US Army Contracting Agency's (ACA) Information Technology, E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Centre (ITEC4) for the supply of passive RFID EPC-1 tags.
According to the ACA ITEC4, RFID EPC-1 technology will provide the necessary standardisation and interoperability requirements among all US government users of passive RFID EPC-1 tags and components.
The BPA provides all US Department of Defense (DoD) branches with access to a common, integrated structure for logistic identification, tracking, locating, and monitoring of commodities and assets.
Such use of RFID technology by the US Army is intended to assist in data collection, storage information, retrieval methods, information processing, and transmission of tag data across all branches of the DoD.
Alien Technology Corporation provides RFID products for use in government, retail, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, transportation, and other industries, using its proprietary Fluidic Self Assembly high-volume manufacturing process.
