RF-iT upgrades its 'You-R OPEN' middleware
Friday July 25, 2008

Austrian technology consulting and software company RF-iT Solutions has announced a major upgrade to its RFID/auto-ID middleware platform, You-R OPEN, supporting not only Microsoft SQL (2000 and 2005) but also Oracle 10g databases.

The middleware platform allows companies' existing software to process data from RFID processes independently of the readers and tags used. You-R OPEN has been employed in various industries, including textiles, automotive, and pharmaceuticals, and has earned several awards for its performance.

New database support
The new version (v3.3), the distribution of which began recently through approved product partners, supports not only the Microsoft SQL 2000 and 2005 databases, but also Oracle 10g as an integrated database.

Other new features include:

  • Generic applications (known as You-R SOLUTIONs modules) for mobile terminals, as well as desktop applications, allowing systems integrators to adapt and extend them to help reduce overall project development times;

  • Logical devices for the grouping of readers and antennas;

  • Flexible support for individual reading events at antenna level;

  • Support in the area of filter mechanisms for devices (DataOnTagFilter, EpcPatternFilter, etc.);

  • The number of supported auto-ID devices has been extended and includes not only barcodes, 2-D barcodes, RFID printers and RFID readers, but also Bizerba and Rhewa scales;

  • Support for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Server 2008;

  • Support for all EPC types in accordance with EPC Tag Data Standard v1.3;

  • Customisable web services to ensure maximum flexibility.
