The Nashville Sounds is the first member of the Nashville sports community to implement the Smart AgeBand System from Passage Inc., which combines cashless payments with electronic age and ID verification. After being age-verified, patrons are given a tamper-evident wristband with printed information (such as Age 21 Verified, the date of the game, and any corporate sponsorship logos or coupons). Those wanting to use the cashless payment system can also get a Smart AgeBand containing an RFID chip, in order to use the Smart Kiosk (an ATM-like machine that accepts cash, debit, and credit cards) to load their wristband with value. And according to Bill Schumpp, food & beverage director for MLB's Jacksonville Suns, the system has already helped increase per-capita spending by an estimated 10% and increase revenues by an estimated 15%.
