Unitech launches RFID-enabled healthcare PDA
Friday October 17, 2008

Unitech has launched its PA600 Healthcare PDA, which has been specifically designed to meet increasing requirements in the medical environment. It is a compact and rugged mobile computer with an integrated 13.56MHz High Frequency RFID reader. It supports 2D barcode, making it ideal for medical RFID applications. The case is constructed from anti-microbial material and is capable of housing both RFID and 2D barcode readers, enabling hospital staff to identify patients by reading their RFID enabled wrist bands and ensure that the correct treatment is administered to the correct patient when scanning medicines. It supports Oracle Database Lite and Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006, and so allows end users to synchronise RFID data with existing business systems and databases. Support for Wavelink Avalanche enables easier management of wireless devices, decreasing cost and time of deployment.
