New team effort provides fractal RFID antennas
Monday June 18, 2007

Fractal Antenna Systems and Nashua Corporation, a manufacturer and marketer of label products, paper transaction supplies and converted RFID tags, have formed a licensing agreement to distribute RFID tags using fractal antenna technology. Under the terms of the agreement, Nashua has the exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute passive RFID labels and tags using antennas developed by Fractal Antenna Systems. Developed over the past 20 years, fractal antennas radically alter the traditional relationships between bandwidth, gain and size, permitting antennas that are more powerful, versatile and compact. Repetition of simple shapes inherent to fractal geometry enables production of high performance antennas that are typically 50-75% smaller than traditional ones. When used with RFID tags, the patented fractal antennas and tags make it possible for increased accuracy from greater distances.
