Staples Business Depot adopts RFID for inventory
Monday May 28, 2007

In Canada, Staples Business Depot is to perform an initial installation of AbsoluteSky's intelliTracker RFID-based product suite at a Canadian store beginning this month. During the installation by Fujitsu Transaction Solutions, Staples Business Depot will tag thousands of items that will be dynamically tracked in real-time (at long range), from entering into store inventory, to store shelves, through to completion of the sales transaction. While automatically tracking the inventory, the intelliTracker software performs a range of functions including: on-hand status and search, automated receiving, inventory status changes, zone differentiation and shrink reduction. In addressing privacy concerns, the RFID tags are not concealed on the items and are re-usable. They are physically detached when the item is sold to the customer at the store.
